Dermal filler injections are created with a hyaluronic acid (HA) base. Injectable HA replicates the naturally occurring molecule in the body known for its unique ability to carry 1,000 times its weight in water, providing deep hydration.

Dermal filler is soft and gel-like, and when injected, it can improve volume while deeply hydrating tissues. The effects of dermal filler injections are semi-permanent, lasting about 6-12 months. 

Your Care First injector will apply a topical anesthetic to numb the area before injection. After you are numb, the treatment area will be cleaned and sanitized. Next, your injector will administer the filler into the treatment area with a needle or cannula. Filler injections feel similar to a pinch and can cause slight discomfort. The pain dissipates quickly, but you can expect swelling, bruising, and tenderness at the injection site.

You will notice dermal filler results immediately following your injections. However, swelling will arise within minutes and last up to two weeks. After two weeks, the results of your filler injections will have settled into place. You will need maintenance injections every twelve months to maintain your results.
